What is EZ Gel?
Platelet-rich fibrin from the patient’s own blood is heat-processed into an albumin gel and injected as an autologous alternative to manufactured filler.
EZ Gel is albumin gel, heat-processed from your own platelet-rich fibrin into a smooth injectable with a consistency close to that of a soft filler. Because it is derived from your blood at the time of treatment, no manufactured product is placed, there is nothing to dissolve later and no question of a reaction to a foreign material. It is used where softness matters most: along the nasolabial folds to soften smile lines, and in the tear trough, where hyaluronic acid can hold water and puff. Results build over several weeks as the gel integrates rather than appearing immediately, so this suits patients who would rather change gradually. Both areas can be treated in one visit from a single draw.
What is EZ Gel made from?
Your own blood, and nothing else. A sample is drawn and spun to produce platelet-rich fibrin, which is then heat-processed and cooled to form an albumin gel — a material with enough body to be used where volume is needed, made entirely from the patient in the room. Nothing synthetic is added and nothing is introduced that the body has to accept. That is the essential difference from manufactured hyaluronic acid filler: there is no product to be allergic to, no question of what it is made of, and nothing that needs dissolving later. What it gives up in exchange is precision and longevity, since a preparation made from your own plasma cannot be engineered for firmness the way a commercial filler can, and it is metabolised in its own time.
Where is EZ Gel used, and who is it for?
Most often in the tear trough and the nasolabial folds — areas where hyaluronic acid filler is workable but not always ideal. Under the eye in particular, hyaluronic acid can hold water and cause puffiness in some people, and EZ Gel avoids that mechanism entirely, which is why it is frequently the preferred option there. It suits patients who want volume restored but prefer nothing manufactured placed in their face, those who have reacted poorly to filler before, and those whose under-eye anatomy makes hyaluronic acid a poor bet. It is often combined with PRP or PRF from the same draw, treating skin quality and volume in one appointment. Where sharp definition or long duration is the priority, conventional filler is still the better tool.
What is the recovery from EZ Gel?
The appointment is longer than a filler appointment because of the draw and the processing, though the injection itself is quick. Swelling and bruising afterwards are usual, and the under-eye is among the more prone areas for both — expect to look treated for a few days, and plan around anything you would rather not be swollen for. Sleeping with your head slightly raised and avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol and heat for the first day all help. There is a small infection risk, as with any injection. Because the gel is autologous it is broken down on the body’s own schedule rather than a product’s, so longevity varies more between individuals than manufactured filler does, and repeat treatment is planned by review rather than by a fixed interval.
